A. Franchise Selection Franchises were decided upon via a Franchise Draft completed before the 2008 MLB season. Draft order was decided on a first come first served basis. In an effort to level the playing field for those who arrived later, the Player Draft order was the reverse order of the Franchise Draft.
B. Keepers After franchises were chosen via the Franchise Draft, each team was able to protect 8 players from their major league squad as well as their chosen 15 man minor league roster. These were posted under each team's board and in an official league rosters thread. These players were protected from the Player Draft. Any player with less than 150 career AB or 50 career IP was protected on a minor league roster.
C. Player Draft After keepers were posted, the Player Draft began. Any player with at least 1 MLB AB or 1 IP may be drafted as long as they have not already been protected by another club. Prospects, as defined earlier, will cost 400K/yr for the duration that they qualify as Prospect Protected. All other players drafted will sign with their teams for the duration of their current real life contracts. As each team posted their selected picks, they also posted the terms of that player's contract, beginning with the 08 season and any other seasons that they were under contract. If they qualify as a Prospect, the team selecting that player posted how many more seasons they were eligible to be protected as such.
