White Sox agree to send: CI : Lance Berkman 09:$14.5M 10:$14.5M 11:$15M(Club Option)HOUS RP: Hideki Okajima 09: $1.75M BOS Pros : Dewon Day tb, Jose Capellan bos
Brewers agree to send: OF Lastings Milledge 09:400k, 10:400k MI: Orlando Cabrera 09:8.5, 10:8.5 Prosp: Kyle Lotzkar (cin), Cole Gillespie (mil), P Josh Fields (seat), 2009 2nd round draft choice
ill admit to not knowing a ton about sone of the prospects involved... but this isnt a salary dump and it involes on of the best CI in baseball (Berkman)... the BRewers are getting the two best players in this deal, IMHO... Fields is pretty good... but gillespie is blocked behind a couple other OF in the brewers system... and i dont know much about Lotzkar but i find it hard to beleive he is good enough to make up for the difference....
If the deal was just for Berkman i would think it made sense, but for it to be with the Puma and Okajima, and Day and Capellan (not that those prosepects are great but still) is borderline ridiculous

I agree that this is terribly lopsided. But there is a camp of people (of at least 1, me) that expect Berkman to crash out of the world of fantasy prominence and into the world of Todd Helton. Maybe that camp is 2 people, though his numbers should have merited a bigger return.
I see Gillespie as one of those guys people get excited about because they learned about the firs three tiers of minor leaguers, and then hear about someone off their radar. But what people often don't consider is that becoming a 4th outfielder, though great for the player, is not great for a fantasy owner. Fields is real and I think closing games in 2010.

all im saying is if he was dumping salary i can see that, but hes not really getting any younger with o cab. and is only shaving off like 5-6M...which certainly is some cap but not a significant portion

Lopsided trade, but it is what it is. Milledge is valued either very high by some or average, that is the main factor. OCab is a decent MI guy, but I wouldn't pay that much for him. The Sox also get Fields and if he holds form, he will be a top notch RP guy. Okajima is on a one year deal, so I dont see much of a loss there. I still side with approval.

best hitter in baseball that is under suspicion of being from mt Olympus (some guy named Pujols)... for a SS who couldnt find a job, and and OF who plays for the Nats.. then some prospects (none of which are in the top 100)
