My team currently has 2 franchise options and 1 restricted options. I understand that these numbers can change next off-season based on my team's real-life salary cap.
At what point will this change?
To simplify my question, am I guaranteed to have those 2/1 spots I have now this off-season, and if it changes it takes effect the following year? Or is it possibly that I go into this next off-season thinking I have 2 and it change to something else?

Very rarely will a franchise change tiers and you will be given more than a years notice in advance so you can plan ahead. We're not just going to say, 'Oh, by the way, you've lost 2 tags this offseason that you were probably planning on using.' I don't think that's right, so we'll give you more than enough time to prepare for any changes that may occur.

i have a question in regards to the possible change of tiers, which is so far ahead of where we're at right now you can feel free to ignore it completely. how/why would it be in regards to your real life team after the original tiers have been set? once we get into the majority of players being under league contracts, real life payrolls would seem to become irrelevant. occasionally players will be franchised, but that would be the only time real life money would come into play outside of keepers and the draft.
i just think that changing tiers according to real life payroll would make sense if everyone was supposed to keep all their keepers and be working w/in the idea of their real life team's framework. but once you factor in the draft, trades, and league contracts, i can't see how real life payroll changes would have an effect in here.
