1. Twins A-
It's one thing to have a lot of early draft picks but it's quite another to make them all really count. The Twins did an amazing job grabbing some high upside players out of the draft in Stetson Allie and Josh Sale and also grabbing some safer, closer to the majors, picks in Alex Wimmers and Trey McNutt.
2. Blue Jays A-
Castellanos and Romero are each very young and a few years away but each have great potential to be above-average MLB players. Taijuan Walker was a nice pick and Bolden is very raw but has the tools needed to succeed. We could see Castellanos and Romero each among the top 50 prospects in baseball a year from now and thats what gets him this grade.
3. Red Sox A-
I can't really penalize Ty for not having many picks, but with Ranaudo and De La Rosa he brought home some premium talent while proving he is one of the biggest Red Sox homer's known to man.
4. Phillies A-
Machado was nice and all but it was a heads-up move to grab Tyrell Jenkins. Chrinos is the type of guy who is a much-better fantasy prospect than real-life one. Barbato and Cunningham are both very very solid prospects in their own rite. Good work.
5. Rangers B+
Parker and Harvey were okay selections but I really loved the Brett Eibner pick. Aaron Sanchez is a decent pick. Rangers had a lot of picks to work with and had a solid draft. Yordano Ventura was an intriguing choice late.
6. Pirates B+
Pirates had a solid draft grabbing 2 solid guys early in Hendricks and Solis. the fact that he was able to combine those with a huge upside pick in Peguero was pretty nice.
7. Diamondbacks B+
Very nice work, love Britton, Washington, Cox early. Aderlin Rodriguez later on was an excellent value pick.
8. Indians B+
Harper and Martinez were very good picks obviously. Not much to say here, Robin did what he was supposed to do.
9. Mariners B+
I really liked the Lee and Bettis picks but I don't think Maya is worth the pick considering he gets his MLB contract.
10. Angels B+
3 Draft picks and 3 guys whose stock are only going to rise from here on out in my opinion.
11. Astros B+
Solid draft. Olt, Asher, Wolters, Brentz were all very very good picks. Klein is kind of underrated. Someone did their homework.
12. Cubs B
This grade would be higher is Nishioki was $400k but he's not. Dunn was a really nice late-round pick that I forgot about. Simpson is a bit of a question-mark but a very good pick where he was taken.
13. Padres B
Just had one pick in Deshields, who is another guy whose a better fantasy prospect than real-life.
14. Rockies B
Other than the Biddle pick I didn't especially like any of these choices. Doesn't make them bad, but nothing really stands out. Knowing Kyle and seeing his farm system I also wouldn't be surprised if one of the other picks he had like Heredia ends up panning out and on a top 100 prospects list next year but who knows.
15. Reds B-
Chris Sale, Christian Colon, and a bunch of lazy picks. Not the way to build a farm system in my opinion. I don't like Yelich at all, Marlins shouldn't have taken him in the 1st round and he was overdrafted here based on the talent still available.
16. Braves B-
Cobb was Swo's saving grace. I'm just not sure how much he paid Keith Law to come onto our board and make the pick for him... Hmmm.
17. Nationals B-
Taillon is great and Rojas Jr. Rojas has a lot of upside but a long way to go and there were better picks still there but not a terrible pick. Love Taillon and honestly this would have been a B+ draft but I decided to take off points because I saw Nats is willing to trade Taillon while he should be an untouchable part of his rebuilding effort.
18. Orioles B-
Archer was a nice pick. Clint Robinson had nice numbers but isn't really that good. Pretty decent 1st draft here Saul.
19. Yankees B-
Mauricio Robles and Eric Thames late kind of saved this draft. Not crazy about Choice or Rogers but they should at least be useful players.
20. Giants B-
Pomeranz and Skole are both decent picks but neither have upside to be great. Petrika and Jones are interesting, sort of.
21. Marlins B-
Really loved the Lipka pick. The rest of draft was decent but unspectacular. Cody Stanley is a guy that could end up surprising a lot of people. We'll see.
22. Dodgers C+
Grandal could be very useful here and should move very quickly through the minors. Hechevvaria has been a real disapointment. Hahn is a mystery with his injury.
I didn't want to write any completely negative reviews this time around. If your team wasn't reviewed you either had zero picks or you have some real work to do. Obviously prospects pan out, improve, decrease in value, etc. etc. etc. These rankings were mostly based on value of prospect, value of the prospect in relation to where he was taken in the draft, and likelihood of the prospect to reach his upside, along with having a good upside.
