The Brady is very hard to pull and even the base cards go for like 500$

I have an old man collection. Mostly stuff I want. Ryno rookies, Griffey 89 UD, McGuire USA., a bunch of Bryant, Russell, Happ, Baez, and Rizzo rookies I overpaid for. 🤣🤣 Go Cubs. Bonds, Canseco, Jetwr, Jones, and hundreds of new crap I should have never bought: I got married and couldn’t frequent casinos and strip clubs as much so my money was poorly spent.

I sold my collection and moved to Houston for a job at age 22. Regretted it and in 2014 I bought all the cool cards I remembered from when I was a kid plus a bunch more I had no business spending money on. I trip to a cool card shop on Pigeon Forge on vacation and a couple thousand e-bay dollars later I returned to the jungle!

Not into cards now but was as a kid of course. My Dad passed away this past summer and while cleaning his house/my childhood house, we found probably thousands of my and my brothers childhood cards. Mostly early-mid 90s, with some late 60s early 70s Cubs (glad to see so many cub fans here) sprinkled in.
Do you guys think there may be any value in there or was that a period that it was so mass produced its not worth it to dig into? There is probably 4-5 storage bins full and Im not sure its worth the effort.

75-90 are terrible with value unless it’s the HOF type and typically only rookies. That stuff is priceless when it comes to keeping some of your favorites and remembering the time busting open packages and loving the game. You realize this was the most efficient way to look at a players stats from the previous season! 🤣🤣 Sorry about your dad. That’s always tough. Those memories for your brothers and you are worth more than the few dollars you’d get, but yes, go through and put aside the guys you know. If the condition is great you could grade it and make some money. GO CUBS

not much value in the 90's cards but those 60's 70's cards will have value you should look through them and take out stars and hall of Famers those will have the most value

The sell portion is the hardest. Card dealers are overloaded with stuff so they don’t really pay unless it’s bulk and they always go low. I’d say bring if you want to offload it bring it to a dealer, let him give you a price and then let me or the Rays pay the shipping and give you 50% more of that guys offer.
Ideally just keep it if you have the room.

Scott
Very sorry about losing the old man. Sucks.
Hey, I'm not a Cubs fan, only baseball and I remember their team from the 60's-70's and I don't have to look on the internet.
IF:Banks, Beckett, Kessinger, Santo
OF: Williams, Hickman and can't think of the other guy. Should have been Lou Brock, but the Cub's traded him to the Cardinal's in the mid 60's for Ernie Broglio and a couple other bags of shit.
C: Hundley. Probably Todd Hundley's Grandfather.
P: Fergie, Pappas, Holtzman
I was an Indians fan growing up. I used to take all my Yankee cards, you know, guys like Mantle, Maris, Berra, Ford and clothes pin them to my bicycle spokes. That's dedication. Pretty stupid now.
Me and my brother had boxes and boxes of cards. I had them stored at my parents house. My mother sold them in '79 while having a porch sale. Along with our GI Joe's, my Lost in Space Robot and other stuff that is now worth 1000's.
Started collection again in the late '80's early '90's. Just gave them all to the Angel's owner.
The only stuff I have left are 3 mint Cal Ripken Jr. Traded Cards and my Gaylord Perry cards.
Almost forgot. And my porn collection.

Yeah, I was very humbled and grateful that he passed on his incredible card collection that one day I can share with my kids.
On the other hand, there was no way on God's green earth that he was going to part ways with "Deepthroat", "Insatiable" and "Wonton Facials."
I guess you can't always get what you want.

Such a fun family. I had the wrong dad.
Someone told me yesterday my dad was the real hero because my mom was most likely not in the mood.

I’ve built and sold a collection 3 times ha. Had my own breaking business for about a year in 2015. Was a lot of fun but impossible to do on your own and have a 40-hr a week job. Follow it a little still. Covid built a false ceiling because people were looking for easy ways to make money not working. Couldn’t find retail. Now you go to WalMart and they’re chock full of cards that nobody wants. They’re doing the oversaturation again but at a higher-end level.
I love going to antique stores but cant stand when there are people there selling cards. They have no idea how far off they are. Went to a place one time and they had a Curt Schilling Donruss RC for $53, Topps Kenny Lofton RC $30, 1990 Donruss Bo Jackson $50, 91 Topps Nolan Ryan $30. Just insane.

Most of my cards are graded
I've been a long time Orioles fan since 1959. Massive collection of Brooks Robinson, Frank Robinson, Boog Powell, Jim Palmer and others from the 60's. Also have a lot of Cal Ripken Jr.
Some new stuff, Henderson, Rutschman, Holliday & most new Orioles.
