Not a bad idea! I’d also propose being able to do “silent” offers where a player’s name does not have to be posted in order to bid on them. I’m sure a lot of hidden gems get cherry picked! I’m sure there’s a logical reason for the process though

I would be interested to know the idea behind “posting” for everyone to see. Anyone can go to Fantrax to see who’s a FA.

I would be interested to know the idea behind “posting” for everyone to see. Anyone can go to Fantrax to see who’s a FA. There’s a few reasons (in my opinion) that our current system is best: 1. We have an issue of people picking up players they’ve won. A lot of times them getting posted again triggers them to be picked up. Some probably don’t see this as a problem but we have (at least in the past) had players not be of FanTrax but be on a team. So when they get on FanTrax and anyone sees it, they could bid on them and win. 2. With a league this size, I think blind bidding and price tiering would add a lot of work to the bid master. I’m sure it’s bad enough with priority lists. 3. There are a lot of times you may think you’re the only one on a prospect and you just don’t have room for them right now because of money/roster space. It’s nice to be able to decide when you have to make that final decision. It does suck if you get “sniped” because you post someone that another GM doesn’t know about but he looks them up because their posted but I think it helps with the competitiveness of the league too. 4. There’s also people in FanTrax FA pool that aren’t eligible to be bid on. This would be big around the draft time. Just my thoughts.

I definitely understand those points, especially #1 and #4. I see how an extra tier to bidding could create a lot more work for the bid master, but would blind bidding create that much extra work? Bids could simply include the position and team the player is on - but I do suppose admin would have to then create a thread to show the winning bid, so there is a little bit of work.
If one of the main reasons is to keep the league competitive & give everyone a shot at an under-the-radar guy or whoever it may be, then I guess I can’t argue with that. I just love researching and digging deep to find up and coming specs (as many of us do), but not sure if it’s worth all the work to then have to post his name for several others to try and bid on
Thanks for your thoughts Nats, I’ve always been interested in discussing this process

I think you are severely overestimating the amount of times people discover a prospect through seeing a random name in a list of FA posting topics

That's how I found "Mr Irrelevant" Tyler J Norton during the draft.
I spent 100's of hours and researched thousands of nobodies in preparation.

It probably doesn’t happen a ton but it does suck when it happens so it makes it feel like a huge deal 😅
It’s not a terrible idea by any means but, I think for a league this size, had we started the league (15 years ago now?) with blind bidding, it’s something we’d have probably changed to our current system by now.

Fantrax limbo is not quite as big an issue as it used to be, but midseason when someone wins a big on Saturday, checks on monday and picks them up on fantrax when they see they've won, that player could already have bids submitted next week? Eh. Heavily on the "if it aint broke dont fix it" side here.

Early on I did discover that if I found someone I liked it was hard to get them if it was a week with minimal postings. Was noticeably easier in a week where there were more. So I do like the idea of not having to actually post names, however with the movement to the new signing rule where you if you were 2nd in the bidding and can pick that player up after a few days of that player going unclaimed I think its important to have the post so we have the actual record of the limbo that player may be in.

I would like to request that more owners consider posting/updating their rosters on their team proboards page. Sure, we have the Google Doc but back in the day (5-7 years ago) it was nice to have all teams updated on here. Not a big deal if you don't want to have an updated team page on here, but it would be cool if you did... lol
